Bypass SSL Inspection For specific websites by using custom categories

From Secure Web Gateway

Access the SafeSquid interface

  • Go to configure page on top right corner of the interface
  • Click on Custom Setting on left side bar
  • Then click on Categorize websites

Here you can add a single website or multiple websites to the specific category, to bypass HTTPS inspection

CASE1 : Having more than one website

Step1: Create a text file with all hostnames, such that each line is having one hostname and save that file.

Example: I want to bypass HTTPS inspection for following websites:

www.abc.com

www.xyz.com

www.safesquid.com

Then I will create the text file same as below, each line is having one hostname

abc
xyz
safesquid

Note: No need to add full URL

Step2:  Then upload that file at Upload websites file, Browse the file and click on select Categories, it will show the list of existing categories.

Here you can create the new category, or you can also select the existing category, then click on upload.

You will see success message once the file gets uploaded successfully.

How Verify custom categorization?

You will see an option search for category

Enter any website from the uploaded file, and click on search, it will show the category name to which you have added.

CASE2: For single website

Enter the website hostname in the field Enter the website/domain, and click on search, it will show the categories if the website already categorized, if not it will show choose categories, then click on choose categories field, it will show the list of existing categories, you can choose any existing category or you can create the new one. Then click on modify. You will see success message on top of category editor.

Now, search for the default entry by using search option at the bottom right corner, click on search icon, then enter the value as “BYPASS SSL INSPECTION” and click on search

Then you will see two entries in under profiles section, then edit the second entry and add your category in the category option and save the entry.

Again, search for “BYPASS SSL INSPECTION” by using search icon, then check for the entry under “HTTPS Inspection”

If the entry is disable, click on edit entry and set enable option to TRUE, and save the entry.

Then save the config by using save configuration icon at bottom right corner, select yes for cloud backup if you want to store your configuration for future purpose or you want to use the same configuration file in some other location.
